The Inter American University of Puerto Rico ?or Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico (UIPR) in Spanish, and often referred as Inter? is a private university system in Puerto Rico. It was founded in 1912 in San German, Puerto Rico. It is composed of 9 campuses and two specialized schools. It is the largest private institution on the island and in all of the Caribbean, and in 1944 it became the first institution outside the continental United States to be accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
